Now is the best time to get your influenza and COVID-19 immunizations to provide protection as we head into the holiday season and gather with loved ones.
Everyone six months and older can receive an influenza vaccine this season, and a COVID-19 vaccine if their last dose was at least six months ago. Appointments can be made through the Get Vaccinated system or by calling 1-833-838-2323 (toll-free). It takes about two weeks for the vaccines to provide maximum protection.
In addition to appointments, Island Health now has availability for walk-ins for children and their families - view the schedule.
Immunization provides protection against severe disease from influenza and COVID-19. This is particularly important for people over 65 who are at higher risk of harm from influenza and COVID-19, and children under five who are at higher risk of harm from influenza.
