Due to the extreme heat wave that is currently affecting British Columbia, Island Health is rebooking COVID-19 vaccination appointments in the communities listed below.
Lake Cowichan: The temporary clinic in Lake Cowichan will be closed on Tuesday, June 29. Anyone booked for an appointment will be contacted to rebook on Wednesday, June 30.
Comox Valley: The clinic at Glacier Gardens closed at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 28. Everyone with affected appointments will be contacted to rebook. The Glacier Gardens clinic will re-open as scheduled on June 29.
Ucluelet: The whole community clinic in Ucluelet closed at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 28. Everyone with appointments after that time will be contacted to rebook.
The health and safety of our clients, staff and volunteers is a top priority for Island Health. While temperatures are expected to begin declining in many areas on Tuesday,
Island Health will continue to carefully monitor the situation and conditions at all immunization clinics.
We acknowledge this may be frustrating for some people and we ask for patience and understanding as we deal with the effects of this extreme weather event.
Previously announced changes:
Eagle Ridge, Langford: All immunization appointments booked after noon on Sunday, June 27 and all day on Monday, June 28 at Eagle Ridge Arena have been rescheduled. This clinic will re-open as scheduled on June 29.
Gabriola Island: Appointments booked on Monday, June 28 have been rescheduled. The whole community clinic will begin on June 29.
Archie Browning: Immunization appointments that were scheduled after 12 p.m. on both Sunday, June 27 and Monday, June 28 have been rescheduled. This clinic will re-open as scheduled on June 29.
Ladysmith: People scheduled to receive their COVID-19 vaccine at Aggie Hall in Ladysmith on June 25, June 26, July 1, July 2, and July 3 have had their appointments moved to the Cedar Community Centre immunization clinic at 2388 Cedar Road in Nanaimo. Their appointment times and dates remain the same.
