Orthopedic Clinic

The Victoria General Hospital orthopedic clinic provides assessment, care and monitoring of ambulatory orthopedic injuries for both children and adults. The orthopedic technicians and surgeons at the clinic provide services such as:

  • cast application 
  • cast removal
  • assessments
  • post-op wound care  
  • injections

How to Get Referral

The orthopedic clinic does not accept referrals directly from physician’s offices. 

Your primary healthcare provider will refer you to an orthopedic surgeon when indicated.

Family Physicians can refer patients who have a fracture and may require a cast to the Orthopedic Surgeon On-Call.

A follow-up appointment may or may not be required. Please refer to the physician’s specific discharge instructions pertaining to your procedure.

Monday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Thursday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Fridays: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Preparing for Your Visit

The approximate wait times for the orthopedic clinic may range from 1-3 hours. Please arrange parking accordingly. 

Unless indicated by the specialist, there is generally no preparation required. 

X-rays may occur based on individual cases. 

Patients may incur costs for supplies. Payment can be made at the time of visit by credit or debit. The hospital does not do third party billing. 

If you require extra assistance to ambulate, change clothes and/or for toileting, please ensure that a caregiver accompanies you to your visit.

If a translator is needed, please bring a family member or a friend to translate. Island Health will provide translation services over the phone if required.
