Island Health can confirm there was a mechanical emergency at Victoria General Hospital at approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning.
Two staff members have been injured and are receiving care. No patients were injured or affected. Patient care is not affected.
The mechanical emergency caused flooding in a non-patient care area. Plans are underway to remediate and repair.
There was a temporary ambulance diversion from VGH to Royal Jubilee Hospital for approximately two hours this morning.
The diversion has concluded.
The Victoria General Hospital emergency department remains open and able to provide emergency care.
