Dr. Alkhaleeli is a seasoned family doctor who brings a caring approach to meet the health care needs of his patients. In addition to his role at the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre, he will also contribute his expertise at the Port Hardy Hospital Emergency Department and take on the responsibility of Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for inpatients, further enhancing local health care services.

"Before I came to Port Hardy, I was practicing in Dubai. I've been in practice for 13 years so far, and I'm now entering my 14th year," said Dr. Alkhaleeli.  "Since my arrival, it’s been my priority to ensure that our patients are connected to the specialized care they need. Now, I'm looking forward to building on this foundation to enhance and expand our services further."

Dr. Alkhaleeli's diverse skills contribute to a holistic approach to healthcare for the community. He specializes in urgent and emergency care, chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension, and gastroenterological and endocrinological disorders. He also has expertise in respiratory issues, infectious diseases, cardiological disorders, and post-cardiac event management.

“The addition of a family physician to the primary health care centre team is great news for people living in and around the Port Hardy area,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. “Dr. Alkhaleeli adds a wealth of knowledge and experience for people in the Port Hardy region creating more capacity for those needing a family physician, those seeking urgent primary care through the clinic, or those needing hospital based care.”

Transitioning from the vibrant city life, Dr. Alkhaleeli’s choice to make Port Hardy his new professional home was not only guided by the enchanting island weather but also by the welcoming and supportive team at the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre.

"The team here is amazing," he said. "They're supportive and knowledgeable and made my transition smooth. If I have questions or need assistance, they not only offer support but also ensure I'm connected with the right resources. It’s a truly cohesive and supportive environment.”

“This is great news for patients and their families living in Port Hardy and the surrounding area, who are directly benefiting from the addition of Dr. Alkhaleeli to the health care team,” said Michele Babchuk, MLA for North Island. “His diverse expertise is invaluable to patients at the centre, and he has increased capacity for those who need to access high-quality care through the hospital emergency department. I am so excited to see more great doctors come to the North Island, and my advocacy for more medical staff remains ongoing.”

Jodi Wright, Primary Care Coordinator at the clinic, said the addition of Dr. Alkhaleeli to the dedicated team ensures consistent longitudinal family physician appointments can be offered in the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre. “We look forward to ongoing collaboration with Dr. Alkhaleeli and our existing team of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, medical office assistants, and specialists—both local and travelling."

Ian Wood, NVI Clinical Services Director, also celebrated Dr. Alkhaleeli's arrival to PHPCC. "Dr. Alkhaleeli's experience and expertise are going to be a great benefit to the communities in NVI and our teams. In the work we have done already, he has shown dedication, interest, and compassion toward our community and the people we serve. His arrival is another step forward in stabilizing healthcare services in NVI.”

Beyond his role as a physician, Dr. Alkhaleeli has a passion for carpentry and electronics and enjoys common pastimes such as watching movies, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

In the spirit of community integration, Dr. Alkhaleeli is continuing to immerse himself in the vibrant Port Hardy community.

"I've heard wonderful things about the community spirit in Port Hardy, and I am genuinely excited to contribute to its well-being. Becoming a part of the community means not only providing medical care but also building lasting connections," he said.

Dr. Sinan Alkhaleeli invites Port Hardy and neighboring town residents to call the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) for appointments, as he is currently accepting new patients. Same day appointments may be available.
