Island Health has an Intranet where employees can find resources and information, as well as share news in the Lunchroom. The links on this page are only accessible to employees and physicians of Island Health who have a valid Island Health login ID and a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device. If you do not work for Island Health and you do not have login access, you will not be able to access the Island Health Intranet.
Setup your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Device
Remote access to Island Health internal services is secured by username and password plus the use of a personally-owned or Island Health issued mobile device. This device can be a mobile phone, tablet, or a computer. You will use this device to log in remotely, in combination with your username and password. This process is called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA); your username and password are the first factor, and the device is the second factor. The mobile device is referred to as your MFA device.
New users can review the setup instructions as necessary. New users wishing to set MFA up remotely, or existing users without access to their original MFA device, will need to contact the Service Desk for assistance with MFA setup. Existing users who have access to their original device, or users who have been issued a Temporary Access Pass, can set up MFA remotely via mfasetup.islandhealth.ca.
With this setup, you will also be prompted to choose and setup your five Self-Serve Password Reset (SSPR) Security Questions. The SSPR Service allows users to reset their passwords without having to call the Service Desk.
Once MFA is set up, you'll need to use your MFA device every time you login remotely to Island Health services.
If you have trouble logging in and completing MFA setup, contact the IMIT Service Desk at 250-370-8777 or toll free at 1-877-563-3152.
Remote Access to Citrix Applications
As of November 2020, Island Health changed gateway.viha.ca to gateway.islandhealth.ca. All users should connect to the remote Citrix application through gateway.islandhealth.ca. Please note remote access through gateway.islandhealth.ca requires you to setup your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device. Please refer to the reference guide for MFA on the Logging in for the first time to Island Health page.
Please note gateway.viha.ca will be decommissioned and once completed, will no longer allow remote connection to Citrix applications. Learn how to change your Workspace App from gateway.viha.ca to gateway.islandhealth.ca.
