Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is an is an acute care facility that provides emergency/trauma services, general surgery, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and geriatric services to people in Nanaimo and the surrounding areas.

How to Apply

Please note that the majority of volunteer opportunities in the Nanaimo region are available on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Unfortunately, we currently have no options for evenings or weekends.

Please note that volunteering shifts are scheduled on the same day and at the same time each week so you have a consistent volunteer schedule. Reliability and strong communication are key to ensuring a positive experience for both our volunteers and those we serve.

Step Up Youth Program

Youth attending school full-time, ages 15-18, are encouraged to participate in the annual Step Up Youth Program | Island Health. The program runs each year between September and April. Applications open each spring; please check the website for updates.
