For the past year, Island Health has been offering whole community COVID-19 vaccine clinics to residents of rural and remote communities who may find it difficult to access clinics located in larger centres.
Due to an unanticipated temporary physician shortage, Island Health is advising community residents and visitors to the area that the Port McNeill Hospital (PMH) emergency department will be closed from 7 a.m. March 4 until 12 p.m. (noon) on March 7.
Island Health, like health authorities across B.C., is adjusting the operations of COVID-19 mass immunization clinics in communities across the region.
Whether helping to move equipment, vital supplies and specimens where they are needed most, or ensuring patients are in the right place at the right time to get the care they need, hospital porters are the heartbeat of Island Health hospitals.
