Nurse Practitioner Integration into Primary Care: Exploring the Enablers, Challenges and Unintended Outcomes with MSFHR Award
Dr. Diane Sawchuck, research lead and Darcy Ross, co-lead received a $15,000 award from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR) Convening & Collaborating (C2 ) Program to investigate the integration of nurse practitioners (NPs) into primary care at Island Health, in collaboration with FNHA.

Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Eden Gardens long-term care home in Nanaimo. With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in long-term care, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases related to the outbreak at the home.

Island Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Glacier View Lodge long-term care home in Courtenay. One staff person has tested positive for COVID-19 at the site. At this time, no residents are experiencing symptoms. Communication with residents and families is underway.
