Westshore Urgent Primary Care Centre

Starting at 8 a.m. each day, people can call the Westshore Urgent Primary Care Centre (WUPCC) 1-833-688-8722 to arrange same day access to urgent care, as required. 

Services for Patients

The UPCC offers a variety of primary care services. Our health care team includes:

• Family physicians
• Registered nurses 
• Mental health and substance use consultants (by referral from a family physician at the WS UPCC)
• Social Worker

Everyone is welcome to access the Westshore Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) for urgent access to primary care services.

Urgent Care

• Urgent care (same day) services are for people who need care within 12-24 hours but do not require an emergency department and who do not have access to a family doctor, nurse practitioner or walk-in clinic in a suitable time frame.
• Patients experiencing chest pains, severe head injuries or broken bones and any concerns requiring immediate blood testing, x-rays or other diagnostic tests cannot be treated at the UPCC and should attend their local hospital’s emergency department or call 9-1-1 during a health emergency.
• Patients will be assessed at the Westshore UPCC upon arrival and registered to be seen as capacity allows.

What does Attachment Mean?

When someone is attached, they have a designated primary care provider in a clinic who does follow up and storage of their confidential medical records.

Doctors' or Nurse Practitioners' Office

Your primary care provider should be your first call in non-emergency situations. Your provider knows you and your health history, including which medications you are taking and what chronic conditions might need to be considered in your treatment.  Same day appointments may be available - ask your provider. 

• If your provider is unavailable or if you don’t have a provider, try a walk-in clinic or Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC).
• Call 8-1-1 for trusted health advice at HealthLinkBC.

Walk-in Clinic

If you have an illness that is not an emergency – like a sinus infection or minor sprain or strain – and you cannot get in to see your primary care provider, local walk-in clinics are available for same-day care. 

Emergency Department

Emergency departments are designed to treat urgent, acute and life-threatening conditions and aren’t the place for routine care or minor ailments. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to your hospital emergency department right away.
