Please note a three night trial stay is required before booking the Piercy Respite Hotel.

The hotel offers 12 attractively furnished private rooms with:

All rooms, including bathrooms, are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel operates like a guesthouse, with hospitality and personal care services included.

During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Influenza Protection Policy.

Provincial policy requires all visitors to note: Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.

Parking

There is limited two hour parking available on Gosworth Street off Hillside Avenue. Paid parking is available at the back of the building.

Accessibility

All rooms, including bathrooms, are wheelchair accessible. Limited overhead lifts are available.

Bus Route/Transit

Take BC Transit #8 or #11 bus.

Preparing for Your Visit

Take a tour of the facility you are attending. Ask questions about medications, billing, meals, visitations, and anything else that is on your mind.

You should also:

  • Be clear about pick up and drop off times.
  • Understand how billing works ahead of time.
  • Complete any paperwork before you arrive.
  • Cancel all community services for the duration of the stay. 
  • Label all client’s personal items (some locations have a labelling service).
  • Check your location’s medication procedure.
  • Be prepared to bring equipment you use at home such as walkers or custom items.
  • Provide an information sheet about the client with some details on what they like and how to support them.
  • Bring favourite photographs, blankets, and snacks to feel at home.
  • Bring books, crosswords, and crafts the client enjoys.
Motorized Scooter Policy

No motorized scooters permitted.

Pet Policy

As per Island Health policy.

Pets are not permitted to live at the care home. This location welcomes visiting pets and recognizes the importance and value that pets have for many people.

Family members and other visitors who wish to bring in their dog or other pet when visiting a resident should understand the following requirements:  

  • Visiting pets must be clean, free of fleas, vaccinated, free of open sores, well behaved and quiet.  
  • Visiting dogs must be controlled on leash at all times during their visit and any other type of pet must be carried in the appropriate cage or carrying case.  
  • Visiting pets are not allowed in the dining rooms or any areas where food is prepared.  
  • Visitors with pets that are not meeting these requirements will be asked to remove the pet from the facility immediately.
Smoking Policy

Smoking is only permitted if the client is able to independently smoke in the designated smoking area.

Any Other Amenities

Medications: All medications administered by staff.

To ensure medication safety for the clients:
•    All medications and supplements must be blister-packed at Forbes Pharmacy, located at 1775 Fort Street
•    The client or a family member must arrange with Forbes Pharmacy at least 7 days in advance of the client’s stay to have the blister packs made, by calling 250-595-1471

Note: Guests are responsible for all the usual Pharmacare costs and deductibles for this service.  

Laundry Service: Staff will launder the client’s clothes, but all clothing must be labelled prior to the client’s visit.
