Clearview Detox is a withdrawal management service offered in a home-like setting in Nanaimo. This inpatient program is voluntary and provides service to all communities north of Mill Bay.
Services provided
- 24-hour acute withdrawal management from alcohol and other substances.
- Group programming and relapse prevention planning.
- Connection and referral to various community services and support with discharge planning.
How to access services
Referrals are required and can be made by:
- Family physicians, walk-in clinic physicians or nurse practitioners
- Mental health and substance use clinicians, substance use counsellors, outreach workers (within Island Health)
- Indigenous counsellors with First Nations Health Authority
- Acute care staff (hospital-based physicians and nurses)
- Walk-in services through your local Mental Health and Substance Use team
- Non-Island Health clinical counsellors and practitioners can contact Clearview directly to receive a referral form
Your referral will be reviewed by the Clearview Detox triage team within three to five days. Clients should call Clearview Detox directly at 250-739-5891 within five days to check the status of their referral.
Clients are encouraged to check in via phone to Clearview Detox staff regularly (at least once per week, but more frequently is preferred).
If you do not have a phone, please ensure your referral includes the best way to contact you.
If your referral is accepted, you will be placed on the waitlist and contacted as we near your position in line.
Individuals referred to Clearview Detox must be able to move independently and manage their own basic self-care. Admissions are booked by medical priority and not necessarily by date of referral.
