Island Health is observing more than 250,000 visits to supervised consumption and overdose prevention sites – more than 1,000 reversed overdoses and zero deaths while at the same time delivering more supports and services to people who are using drugs and for people who are ready to begin a recovery journey.
Island Health will be assuming responsibility for publicly funded home support service delivery on Southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands this fall.
North Island residents who are receiving palliative support at home now have access to an easy-to-use tablet to help them easily and safely share information with their care team between regular appointments.
Island wide - Island Health advises everyone, particularly seniors, to be extremely cautious when they venture outdoors in snowy and icy conditions, as they are especially at risk of suffering serious injuries from slips and falls.
Port Alice – Island Health is expanding team-based primary care and enhancing community services in Port Alice to better meet the current and future health-care needs of residents.
