Hospital at Home research

A research team with members from Island Health, the University of Victoria and patient partners are studying the Hospital at Home program at Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals.

This study, called Alternatives to Traditional Hospital Care Offered in Monitored Environments (AT-HOME) will investigate a number of outcome measures, including the efficacy and safety of the program and patient, caregiver and clinician and administrator experiences. Hospital at Home patients and caregivers may be asked if they are interested in participating in this study.

If they consent to participating, patients and caregivers are typically contacted by phone or email a few weeks after discharge from the Hospital at Home program. A survey is completed over the phone, and usually takes about 30 - 45 minutes to complete. Participation is completely voluntary.

Dr. Sean P Spina is the principal investigator for this multidisciplinary research program. For more information please email: HaHEvaluation@islandhealth.ca
