Breast Health Patient Navigator

Cancer treatment

If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer or have a breast health concern, we can help.

What We Do

The Victoria Breast Health Centre is staffed by Breast Health Patient Navigators (BHPN), who are Registered Nurses with expertise in breast health and breast cancer. We assist patients and their families in the early stages of the breast cancer journey: by answering questions, preparing patients for treatment visits with specialists, informing them of community supports, helping navigate the cancer care system, and providing emotional support. Through telephone consultation we provide information, education and support from initial diagnosis, pre and post surgery and in preparation for referral to the Vancouver Island Cancer Centre for adjuvant therapies. We contact all breast cancer patients who will be having surgery in Victoria.

Mission

The mission of the Victoria Breast Health Centre is to ensure the best possible well-being for those experiencing breast cancer or other breast health concerns, by guiding them through their journey, from investigation of abnormities and diagnosis, through completion of treatment.

This is achieved by working collaboratively with patients, families and other members of the health care team to provide individualized informational, emotional, and practical support.
