Amputee Links

The War Amps
Shares information from all over the world with amputees and the prosthetic industry in Canada.

The International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics. Canada
Provides information and links for the Amputee as well as professionals.

Queen Alexandra Orthotics, Prosthetics & Seating (QAOPS)
Provides an overview of the products and services available from QAOPS to help people of all ages overcome mobility and physical challenges.

Neurological Links (Stroke, Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, etc)

Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
Provides access to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada website which has an excellent new section on strokes. All the information on this website is Canadian, current and has been approved by Heart and Stroke Foundation medical experts.

Neuroscience Health
Provides information and links for patients with neurological conditions (Stroke, Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, etc). This site is maintained by the VIHA Neurosciences Program.

StrokEngine  
Provides up-to-date information about the value of clinical interventions used in stroke rehabilitation. This site was developed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Stroke Network.

Stroke Recovery Association of British Columbia
Provides a full list of stroke support groups in BC.

BC Brain Injury Society
Provides education, information, prevention, support and advocacy for brain injured patients.

Victoria Brain Injury Society
Excellent site for information on programs, services and links for brain injured patients and families.

Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
Provides up to date information on resources, support and research for MS patients

Orthopaedic Links

My Joint Replacement
This is an innovative patient education website that covers the continuum of care for joint replacements. Developed by the Greater Toronto Area Rehab Network, in collaboration with the Arthritis Society and the Total Joint Network, this site is based on the best available evidence and consultation with patients, surgeons, physiatrists and allied health professionals.

Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation 
Provides patients and their families with accurate, up-to-date information to make going through orthopaedic surgery a little easier and less frightening. There is a patient resource and support section with information about the latest news in orthopaedic research, what to expect from treatment, a list of questions and checklists to help patients prepare for surgery, and a list of websites for more detailed information.

Arthritis Society of Canada
Provides detailed information re types of arthritis, self management programs, resources and research available for those with arthritis. It also provides links to local programs and information (BC and Yukon Division)

OASIS Website
The OsteoArthritis Service Integration System is a Vancouver Coastal Health program developed to support people with hip and knee osteoarthritis. It provides information re self-management and access support services.

The public section of this website is an excellent source of information re speech and swallowing disorders for patients and families.
