Philosophy of Care
Island Health Vision, Purpose, and Values
As a Park Place Seniors Living home, Cerwydden follows the company-wide Resident’s Day philosophy, in which incoming residents are asked how they wish to live in the home. The responses become an individualized schedule for that resident, which is implemented by the care team.
This program provides individualized care for each resident and recognizes that Cerwydden is their home in which they are accorded a voice and a choice in how they live. In 2011, Accreditation Canada cited Park Place’s Resident’s Day care philosophy as a leading practice in seniors’ care.
Model of Medical Care/Physician Organization
Residents at this facility will usually be followed by their current physician, provided that they are able to provide ongoing care. If the resident cannot be followed by their community physician (or if they do not have one), the facility will help facilitate the finding of a new physician.
Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)
MAiD is available at Island Health owned and operated sites and this affiliate site. Detailed information on MAiD, including brochure for patients and families and a link to information provided by the Federal Government, is available on the MAiD webpage.
