Building Description
Comox Valley Seniors Village has 136 long-term care suites/beds. It is in a brand new facility that opened in the Spring of 2009 as part of this Retirement Concepts campus of care. The building is resort like in appeal and offers the best services to its residents. The long-term care wing also offers private pay respite care for stays of two weeks or more upon availability.
To ensure intimate, home-like surroundings, each mini-community has 15 rooms and its own dining area. Rooms are tastefully decorated in soft colours with comfortable furnishings. Residents are encouraged to bring familiar belongings and decorations to create an atmosphere that is familiar to them and to their families.
Building Amenities
The building features many amenities and services including lounges, wellness centre, hair salon, media, library, recreation hall and outdoor courtyards.
Facility-Specific Restrictions
Tipping and personal gifts are not permitted to be given to staff. General “Thank You” gifts can be arranged via the General Manager
Comox Valley Seniors Village does not store resident’s valuables. If a resident has valuable papers or jewellery, we suggest that the family store them in a bank safety deposit box on behalf of the resident
Neighbourhood/Community Amenities
This Campus of Care, located in the beautiful Comox Valley, is located near downtown Courtenay as well as other shopping centres and services. Comox Valley Seniors Village, opened in spring of 2009 is a complete Campus of Care with 97 Independent/Assisted Living and 136 bed Long-Term Care homes. The Campus of Care model allows residents to 'age in place', and this is an ideal situation for couples who are able to remain in the same home as their care needs change.

Cost
Residents pay up to 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.

Safety/Security Features
- a nurse call bell in every bathroom and beside every bed
- safety handrails are provided throughout all of the corridors in the building
- smoke detectors and a fire sprinkler system are provided throughout the building
- fire alarm system hooked directly to a fire monitoring station
- all doors exiting from the Special Care Unit are kept locked to prevent the residents leaving the building unattended
- in the case of a fire emergency, the doors are automatically unlocked by the fire system
- security cameras in the common areas

A telephone is accessible for residents' use. Families are encouraged to celebrate special events with their family members here at the facility and we can make space available to you. Our activities supervisor or the dietary supervisor will be pleased to help you with your arrangements.

Visiting Information
Visitors to Comox Valley Seniors Village will be welcomed by our friendly reception staff. You are asked to sign in and wear a visitors badge during your visit. Your well trained and friendly pet is welcome to accompany you, many residents enjoy pets. Children will always light up the faces of our residents; young ones are always welcome. Feel free to ask one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff questions during your visit if you need assistance.

During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Influenza Protection Policy.
Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”
