A team of skilled urologists and nurses at the cystoscopy clinic offer services such as:
- botox treatment
- diagnosis of BPH/retention
- stent removal
- stricture treatment
- ongoing surveillance
How to get a Referral
Your primary healthcare provider will refer you to a urologist.
The cystoscopy clinic does not accept referrals directly from physician’s offices. Referrals must be sent directly to an urologist’s office, who will then schedule a date for your procedure at the clinic.

Cystoscopy directions:
Come in via the main entrance.
Turn left at the elevators.
Walk down the long corridor towards the end of the hall.
Cystoscopy is located on the left, under the sign “Ambulatory D&T Unit”.

If you need to cancel, please contact your urologist’s office at least 1 week before your scheduled procedure at the clinic.
Please contact the referring physician’s office or the urologist for any questions or concerns regarding the procedure.

Preparing for Your Visit
If you require extra assistance to ambulate, change clothes and/or for toileting, please ensure that a caregiver accompanies you to your visit.
If you are driving, please allow for extra time, as parking space is limited.
If a translator is needed, bringing a family member or a friend to translate is encouraged. Island Health will provide translation services over the phone if required.
All appointment changes and/or cancellations are arranged through the urologist’s office.
After Your Visit
For your personal records, an individualized cystoscopy discharge instruction handout will be provided to you after your procedure.
Please remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Your urologist’s office may contact you for a follow-up appointment to discuss the findings at a later date.
You should be able to resume normal activities immediately after your cystoscopy.
