Orthopedic Surgeons at the clinic provide services such as:

  • cast application 
  • cast removal
  • assessments
  • post-op wound care  
  • injections

How to get a Referral 

The Orthopedic Clinic does not accept referrals directly from Primary Care Providers.  Your Primary Care Provider will refer you to an orthopedic surgeon when indicated. 

Referring- Rebalance MD

Primary Healthcare Providers can refer patients who have a fracture and may require a cast to the Orthopedic Surgeon On-Call. 

Orthopedic Community Clinic Referral

The Royal Jubilee Hospital Orthopedic Clinic is located in Clinic 3, Diagnostic & Treatment (D&T) Centre.  Enter the D7T building via the Main Entrance, beside Emergency.  Pass the Patient Information Desk, and then turn left down the vaulted corridor of the outpatient clinics.  Clinic 3 is located on the main level.

Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

Friday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Preparing for Your Visit
  • The approximate wait time for the Orthopedic Clinic may range from 1-3 hours.  Please arrange parking accordingly.  Parking is limited at the site; allow extra time to navigate this. 
  • Unless indicated by the Orthopedic Surgeon, there is generally no preparation required.  
  • X-rays or additional diagnostic testing may occur. 
  • The surgeon may take a detailed medical history or perform a physical exam.  If possible, please bring a current medication list. 
  • A medical student or resident may participate in your appointment. 
  • Patients may incur costs for supplies.  Patients will be made aware of any costs associated with treatment and will sign a billing invoice prior to application of casting/bracing materials when applicable. 
  • If you require extra assistance to ambulate, change clothes and/or for toileting, please ensure that a caregiver accompanies you to your visit.  
  • If assistance with translation is required, bringing a family member or friend to translate is encouraged.  Island Health will provide translation services over the phone if required. 

After Your Visit 

  • A follow up appointment may or may not be required.  Please refer to the physician's specific discharge instructions pertaining to your procedure.
