Trauma Follow-Up Clinic at Victoria General Hospital
The Trauma Follow-up clinic operates out of Victoria General Hospital. It was opened in 2022 to support the follow through care of Trauma patients in the South Island. Once discharged from hospital, patients will continue to be followed by the team of specialized Trauma Physicians to ensure that our community members have access to all the resources they need to ensure a full recovery. Admission to the clinic is through physician referral.
The trauma physician and support staff at the trauma clinic provide services such as:
- New consults or referrals
- Follow up imaging
- Wound care
- Assessments
- Pain management
How to get a Referral (if required)
Your emergency room physician will refer you to a trauma physician when indicated. The orthopedic clinic does not accept referrals directly from physician's offices.

Every second Wednesday 8:00am - 12:00pm.
Closed weekends and statutory holidays.
Preparing for Your Visit
If you require extra assistance to ambulate, change clothes and/or for toileting, please ensure that a caregiver accompanies you for your visit.
All appointment changes and/or cancellations are arranged through the referring physician's office.
If a translator is needed, bringing family or a friend to translate is strongly encouraged. Island Health will provide translation services if required.
You may be required to go to Medical Imaging during your visit. Lengthy wait times are possible at both the Trauma Follow-up clinic and Medical Imaging. Please allow 1-3 hours for all visits.
After Your Visit
A follow-up appointment may or may not be required. Please refer to the physician's specific discharge instructions pertaining to your procedure.
