Vice President — People and Communications
Jamie provides executive leadership in support of Island Health’s 35,000 staff, medical staff and volunteers. He oversees several teams responsible for delivering high-impact human resources functions, including staffing, scheduling, labour relations, benefits, compensation and work design, diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as employee safety and wellness. His approach and focus on creating exceptional employee and volunteer experiences helps advance Island Health’s pursuit of its strategic direction.
Jamie also serves as an executive strategist guiding internal and external communications and engagement. He identifies opportunities and risks, guiding Island Health through issues which affect organizational reputation in the public sphere. He also advises the executive team and Board of Directors on the advancement of key strategic partnerships at the organization level.
As executive lead for the Board of Director’s Governance Committee, Jamie supports and guides the Board in best practice governance and fiduciary responsibilities.
Prior to joining Island Health as Vice President in 2017, Jamie served for almost two decades in executive and leadership roles in health authorities and legislative offices in British Columbia.
Jamie holds a Master of Arts in Leadership (Health Specialization) from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria.
