Pay Transparency Report
Island Health is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, and to addressing all forms of discrimination in the workplace. In full support of the Pay Transparency Act, we are reporting on this initiative for the first time in 2024, with annual reporting to follow in the years ahead.
Employees are provided an anonymous survey to collect their identified gender choice, which can be updated at any time and will be pulled in October of each year to meet the reporting timelines.

Medical Health Officer Report to the Board: Recommendation to Appoint an Administrator for Victoria Chinatown Care Centre
Island Health’s Board of Directors has temporarily appointed an administrator to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Victoria Chinatown Care Centre long-term care home.
The appointment of the administrator was based upon the recommendation of South Island medical health officer Dr. Murray Fyfe and Island Health’s Community Care Facilities Licensing program, following a diligent administrative process involving numerous complaint-based licensing inspections.

Medical Health Officer Report to the Board: Recommendation to Appoint an Administrator for Selkirk Seniors Village
Island Health’s Board of Directors has temporarily appointed an administrator to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations at Selkirk Seniors Village in Victoria. The Board’s decision to appoint an administrator was based upon the recommendation of South Island Medical Health Officer Dr. Murray Fyfe. Dr. Fyfe’s recommendation was informed by a detailed report from Island Health’s Community Care Facilities Licensing program, following a diligent administrative process involving numerous routine and complaint-based licensing inspections.

2016 Carbon Neutral Action Report

Under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Act, since 2008, all public sector organizations have reported annually on their plans and actions taken to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Since 2011, all public sector organizations also report their total GHG emissions for the calendar year as well as offset investments made to achieve net-zero emissions. These reports are known as Carbon Neutral Action Reports (CNARs).

Strategic Initiative Evaluation Project Oceanside Health Centre

In August 2011, Island Health contracted an external evaluation team to evaluate, in collaboration with Island Health, strategic initiatives being implemented by the organization. The evaluation included a prospective evaluation that focused on Island Health’s model of integrated, community-based service delivery at the Oceanside Health Centre (OHC) that opened in 2013 in Parksville, BC.
