Shaunee Casavant is a Nuuchahnulth woman from the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nations.
With interests in Indigenous Health, she obtained a diploma in nursing and graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Nursing. In addition to her service to Vancouver Island First Nations communities through the provision of training in CPR, First Aid, diabetes management and family violence prevention, she was also a contributor to the development of the First Nations Health Authority.
Shaunee was instrumental in the accreditation of Tsawaayuus (Rainbow Gardens) Long-term Care Facility and prepared proposals that successfully expanded the facility to meet community needs. She and her family currently live in Kyuquot where they operate a water taxi business.
Shaunee was first appointed to the Board of Island Health on July 29, 2020. Her current term expires on July 31, 2026.
