Tuesday, December 10: New CDH Virtual Update for Staff and Community 

The Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project team invited all staff and community members to a live MS Teams webinar on Tuesday, December 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Check out our video and join the team as they bring you behind the scenes for an update on the construction progress of the new facility, a glimpse into our clinical program, art program and operational readiness workstreams and a look at the work ahead.

You'll also hear from our partners at the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, whose members generously support exceptional care in Cowichan, and BC Infrastructure Benefits, the employer for the skilled trade workforce building your new CDH.

Friday, November 1, 2024: Art@CDH Open House event from 1:00-4:00pm at the Cowichan Community Centre (Genoa Room)

Learn about the various art opportunities at the future Cowichan District Hospital and Cowichan Urgent & Primary Care Centre. September 14-15, 2024: Stop by and visit us at the Cowichan Exhibition

Members of the CDH Replacement Project Nuts'a'maat Alliance, the CDH Foundation, and the Cowichan recruitment and health services teams will be at the Cowichan Exhibition Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15. Stop by our booth from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn about job opportunities, Art@CDH, check out the architectural renderings of your new CDH, learn about the Cowichan Health and Care Plan and find out how you can support healthcare in your community by donating to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation. February 7, 2024: Project Update at Island Health's Public Board Forum

The Island Health Board of Directors hosts board public forums in communities located in the north, central and south Island regions of Island Health. The forums include a regional update from Island Health’s President and CEO and local Medical Health Officer with time for general questions from the public. This forum featured a presentation on the future Emergency Department for the new CDH.

October 18: Virtual info session for all staff and community members 

Thank you to all who joined us for a behind-the-scenes update on the progress of the new facility and to all who submitted questions in advance and during the live Q&A. In addition to sharing updates from our Construction, Clinical and Indigenous Health & Engagement directors, this session highlighted our commitment to environmental sustainability. We also heard from our partners at the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, whose members generously support exceptional care in Cowichan, and BC Infrastructure Benefits, the employer for the skilled trade workforce building your new CDH.

Wednesday, July 5: Indigenous Journey Mapping Session. The Project's Indigenous Relationships and Cultural Safety team is pleased to invite you to an interactive dinner session open to all Indigenous peoples in the Cowichan Valley.

February 2: Virtual Info Session - Join us on Zoom on Thursday, February 2 at 6 - 7:30 p.m. for an update on the future hospital. The Project team will provide a first look at the renderings and is looking forward to answering your questions.

October 12: Call for Indigenous artists, ages 15-24. The Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project invites First Nation, Métis, Inuit and Indigenous emerging artists, ages 15-24, to submit artwork that will be used to represent a Project Alliance working together to construct the new hospital in Cowichan.

January 25: Thank you to all who responded to our call for Volunteer Patient Partners! We are reviewing your areas of interest and will be reaching out to applicants in the coming weeks.

November 16: Patient Partner volunteers needed – We’re excited to welcome patient partners into our project. Advisory work begins in early 2022. To learn about how you can get involved as a member of our CDH Replacement Project Patient Partnership Group, kindly RSVP to our posting on the Patient Voices Network by December 15.

2019
  • November 2019: Patient Partners needed to review proposed service improvements for people with lived experience with: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), palliative and end-of-life care; or multiple chronic health conditions. (Postponed due to scheduling conflicts and pandemic response.)
  • September 23, 2019: Thank you to patient partners who provided input to improve the Patient Admitting & Registration process. Your feedback helped inform the business plan to replace Cowichan District Hospital.
  • April 16, 2019: Thank you to all patient partner volunteers who participated in the CDH Replacement Project consultation session in Duncan on April 16.
