The area spans over 21,000 square kilometres and includes communities such as Alert Bay, Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Port Alice, Kingcome Inlet, Sointula, Woss, Winter Harbour, and Holberg.

Provincial Government Investments in North Vancouver Island
On January 27, 2023, the provincial government announced a $30 million investment aimed at better supporting healthcare providers in offering quality, safe care to patients we serve in North Vancouver Island.
This investment plus the investments made over the last 18 months (additional 24/7 registered nurse coverage, local leadership enhancements, improved community services, etc) will support new recruitment and retention strategies, increased staff and physician supports, expanded core staffing, facility investments, mental health and substance use service enhancements, expanded long-term care, and more.
