Leah Hollins was appointed to the role of Chair for the Island Health Board of Directors in September 2017. Leah brings vast experience in health-care policy, programs, strategy, and service delivery. She served as Deputy Minister of Health for the Government of British Columbia, the Chair of the Canadian Blood Services Board of Directors for eight years, and was a member of the Departmental Audit Committee for Veterans' Affairs Canada. Leah is currently Chair of the Departmental Audit Committee for Health Canada/Public Health Agency of Canada.
Leah has been awarded the Order of Canada for her work in organ and tissue donation and transplantation, a Doctor of Laws from the University of Manitoba for distinguished public service, and a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Faculty of Human & Social Development at the University of Victoria in 2020.
Leah Hollins was first appointed to the Board of Island Health on Sept 22, 2017. Her current term expires on December 21, 2024.
