Vice President, Clinical Services, Acute Care North Island and Community Services
As Vice President of Clinical Services, Acute Care North Island and Community Services, James oversees all aspects of community-based and clinical operations and is responsible for establishing, developing and operationalizing an effective integrated care delivery model north of the Cowichan Valley Regional District to the Regional District of Mount Waddington. He also has oversight of hospitals in the North Island, West Coast and Salt Spring Island.
Since joining Island Health in 2005, James has held several leadership roles including; Corporate Director of Protection Services, Corporate Director of Logistics and Operations and most recently Vice President of Operations and Support Services where he provided leadership in the areas of Facilities Maintenance, Design and Construction, Biomedical Engineering, Materiel Management, Protection Services, Housekeeping, Food Services, Laundry, Logistics, Supply Chain, Patient Flow, and Health Emergency Management.
James holds two Associate of Arts degrees from Camosun College and completed his Bachelor degree in Sociology from the University of Victoria, as well as a graduate certificate in Project Management and a Master in Business Administration from Royal Roads University. James remains active in academia through Royal Roads University where he reviews MBA theses on behalf of the School of Business and is the past Vice-Chair of Lymphoma Canada, a nationwide non-profit focused on empowering all those affected by the cancer.
James has lived on Vancouver Island since an early age and most weekends can be found enjoying the Island’s abundant parks alongside his wife, either on a surf board, paddleboard or walking their two Siberian Huskies.
